Double D Transportation is a leading construction materials and equipment transportation company operating throughout Alameda, Contra Costa, Santa Clara, San Joaquin and San Francisco counties, since 1967. We are seeking a Heavy Duty Mechanic to be based out of our Hayward yard. Our extensive late model fleet will provide you with the opportunity to challenge and grow in your career as a Heavy Duty Mechanic.
Responsibilities:
Responsibilities will include but not be limited to:
- Perform maintenance on trucks and trailers including but not limited to: Preventative maintenance, routine/general maintenance, oil changes, electrical system failures, etc.
- Inspect, trouble shoot and diagnosing equipment failures.
- Fabricate and/or weld solutions to equipment failures.
- Perform duties associated with HVAC systems, steering systems and electrical systems (including starters and alternators- ECM’s, ECU sensors).
- Accurately complete written record of work performance
- Maintain a clean work and shop area.
- Communicate with drivers and customers regarding DVIR’s (Driver Vehicle Inspection Reports).
- Complete general maintenance for cab and chassis style vehicles.
- Perform California 90-day BIT inspections.
Qualifications:
- Experience working as a Heavy Duty Truck & Trailer Mechanic.
- Must have knowledge of air brake systems and spring and air brake suspension systems.
- Knowledge of industry standard welding and fabricating techniques.
- Able to use and operate standard tools of the heavy truck mechanic trade.
- Work in team and independent settings.
- Possess and maintain reasonably clean, valid California driver’s license.
- Required to pass pre-employment drug and alcohol screening.
